Cryptocurrencies fell after President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China after threatening to impose them long ago.

Bitcoin fell 7 percent to $93,768.66. The CoinDesk 20 index, which measures the top 20 digital assets by market capitalization, fell 19 percent. Ether fell 20 percent to its lowest level since November.

The decline began on Saturday after Trump signed an order imposing 25 percent tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, as well as 10 percent tariffs on China, which will take effect on Tuesday.
